Shame on the leadership team at @Culinary226, who are advocating against their members' interests - & the interests of everyone else who is non-rich - by opposing Medicare for All. There is no excuse for it.
Bernie Sanders's Medicare for All plan is objectively much better than the current plan @Culinary226 members have. Just look at the union's copay book! culinaryhealthfund.org/library/Copay_…
If a @Culinary226 member needs to see a physician & can't make it to the Culinary Health Center at 650 North Nellis Blvd., they currently have a $15 copay. Under Bernie's Medicare for All plan, the worker would pay $0 for the same physician visit.
If a @Culinary226 member needs to see a specialist & can't make it to the Culinary Health Center at 650 North Nellis Blvd., they currently have a $30 copay. Under Bernie's Medicare for All plan, the worker would pay $0 to see the specialist.
Suppose a @Culinary226 member needs to go to urgent care and isn't close to the Culinary Health Center at 650 North Nellis Blvd. They currently have to pay $40. Under Bernie's Medicare for All plan, guess what that union member would pay? $0.
Bernie Sanders's Medicare for All plan prohibits copays, deductibles, & premiums. Under the current @Culinary226 plan, "the maximum yearly amount you have to pay out of your pocket for your co-pays and coinsurance is $6,350 per person or $12,700 per family."
Yes, the @Culinary226 plan offers better health coverage than the vast majority of Americans have. But Medicare for All is clearly better! Not having to bargain for health benefits would also allow a focus in bargaining on other things workers want.
So if you're a culinary worker in Nevada, contact your union leadership. Tell them you want a better health plan, & that you expect them to advocate for you rather than against you. Otherwise, you'll vote them out.
