As viable use cases for physical cash declines, the existing balance of privacy/civil liberties and law enforcement

No polity has voted to end all transactional privacy but that's the implicit end-result of moving to a digital-centric/near exclusively digital payments system that doesn't have anonymous decentralized cash.
@neelkashkari @TheStalwart @Aarondklein Or to put it another way, including anonymous digital cash is the *conservative* approach that maintains the existing balance of privacy and law enforcement. Eliminating the possibility of privacy in transactions is an extreme departure from our existing political balance.

Only thing funnier than Noah Smith failing as an economist after failing as a physicist is how bad he still is as a political pundit. Sometimes you see the older gen of Chait-like writers and wonder how they ever got their platform. Nothing succeeds like failure.
Of all the diverse, experienced, talented writers Bloomberg could have given that job too, instead it went to a guy who spent his career writing bad math models and applying them poorly to real world problems, who convinced himself his worldview is somehow unique or interesting.
Ah yes, tell me more about what your U of Minnesota grad program and your love for anime has taught you about a century of racial integration. I'm sure it will be profound fresh and definitely not a dumb persons idea of what a smart person sounds like.

First and foremost, if you are designing *governance systems* and you’re not up to speed on our 200+ years of quantitative research in this area, consider researching this body of work.

Secondly, by and large, we collectively have at most a few years of experience with on-chain voting systems.

Voting is just one way to coordinate.

Everything is an experiment.

Governance of networks, upgrades, DAOs, nonprofits, public co’s does not & should not look the same.

Sometimes when we think of the atrocities of the perversions within the aberration and their heinous blackmail, crime against humanity and attempts to defame others, it would be easy to rain curses on them of wish death upon them all but we will only be guilty of their crimes.
We MUST never use possibility to justify certainty but base our decisions on the action itself. Is it fundamentally good or bad? But mostly we have people seeking whom to coerce into justifying their own decisions. They’re decided already & hope to have co-conspirators.

It is objectively absurd to believe in the total emancipation of humanity—that doesn’t mean it’s impossible or undesirable, it’s just the only way to comport oneself to a hostile & hard to change world.
