/ Reteric I learned in college and other useful mental masturbation...
/ As a concerned American citizen, there isn't much I can do about our military forces. let's face it we as Americans have no real say on what goes on in the military. This is seen in the most educated among us that do not advocate for the American soldier. I know this is a...
/ ...broad statement so let me bring it down to a more realist understanding.
/ If you have no control over a situation what do you do? Especially if it's a situation is of grave concern to you? Many people face this dilemma daily and live with it. However, there are the few educated elite Americans that like to think they make a difference and they...
/ ...can change things if they try.
/ After a certain age thought this idealism can't really be enforced and evidence shows otherwise. Americans then thought of a way to reinforce our ideals. We just don't bother with things like that. Because if we really did care you better watch out things would change.
/ This idea trickles down to the next generation and even penetrates into other cultures that assume Americans could change things if they just understood or cared.
/ Children are taught not to go off to war because if they do then that is their fault. This puts us back in the driver seat of our future or so we think.
/ We tried in the 60’s mass protest against the Vietnam conflict but that didn't work. We were mad at our #government for sending young men and women over to a place we knew nothing about and letting them get killed or kill others.
/ The #government wasn't born yesterday so they just throw it back in outer faces and said hey look we have proof it is not faulted it's those damn American kids you raised. They let a few nasty things surface and Americans were applauded at what the American soldiers did.
/ This tricked seem to work as our anger switched from The #government to the American Soldier who had to go over to Vietnam and was following orders clearly but that was of no concern we were mad at them now. This worked well, in fact, we had investigations soldiers were...
/ ...found accountable and apologized.
/ This worked two-fold as it also taught Americans soldiers that our #government did not back them up and any mistakes we make in Vietnam was blamed on the stupid young soldier.
/ So we as American now know to stay out of the military if you want some control over your life and your actions and we taught our children the same. Problem solved we American are back in the driver seat and have control once again.
/ So as you can see my earlier statement if you agree with it or not has some rational meaning now, at least to me. I am unaware if there is a name for the theory I just created or if someone else before me has also suggested it in the more literate friendly way.
/ I will just pretend I am the first person to come up with this theory and I will name it #CognitiveDissonance. No, wait I remember someone else came up with that idea.
