FACTS ABOUT ELIZABETH WARREN

I did a little searching on her biographies and I thought I'd share the facts I find most interesting/pertinent.

*****************
1/
Warren started working at age 13 as a waitress to help her family, which struggled due to the ill health of her father.

She was the state debate champion in High School.

2/
She earned a degree in speech pathology at University of Houston. She was the first member of her family to earn a degree.

Warren worked briefly with children with disabilities in public schools.

She graduated from Rutgers Law School.

3/
In 1976, she practiced law from her home and became known for her scholarly expertise in bankruptcy law.

In 1979, Warren began exploring the economic pressures facing the American middle class, including the reasons why Americans were ending up in bankruptcy court.

4/
She discovered that most of the financial victims were families who had:
> lost jobs
> experienced financial hardship from a divorce
> suffered illnesses that decimated their savings

5/
From then on, Warren would focus her research on bankruptcy and commercial law—specifically on how it affected financially distressed companies, women, the elderly and the working poor.

6/
In the mid 80's her views from her conservative upbringing began to shift more left. She says her experience working with families going through bankruptcy changed her views.

7/
From 1980 - 1995, Warren moved about the country with her husband, working as a law Professor, and finally settled at Harvard. She specialized in bankruptcy law, contract law and finance.

In 1995, Warren became a Democrat.

8/
In 1995, Warren advise on the new National Bankruptcy Review Commission. During this time Warren testified against Congressional efforts to limit consumers' ability to file for bankruptcy.

9/
In 2008, Warren chaired the Congressional Oversight Panel, created to monitor the $700 billion bank bailout effort known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

10/
Warren headed investigations, conducted televised public hearings, led interviews of government officials and submitted monthly reports demanding accountability from banks.

In 2009, the Boston Globe named Warren "Bostonian of the Year."

11/
In 2010, President Obama appointed Elizabeth Warren Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which was Warren's Brain Child.

12/
She had conceived of the idea, fought for it's creation, and stood it up. It was dedicated to police credit lenders, stopping scams holding financial firms accountable when they cheat people.

13/
Due to Republican opposition, Warren was not chosen to head the agency she created, and she stepped down from the post in August 2011. She refused to take a lesser position.

14/
She wrote 6 books, including the Two Income Trap, which explains how the system is rigged against the average American family. She correctly predicted the collapse/contraction of the middle class.

In 2012, Warren is elected to the Senate.

15/
And, of course, now she is a 2020 Presidential Candidate.

I just want to make one non-factual comment here. I am absolutely enraged she wasn't "allowed" to head the department that she dreamed up and CREATED!

And now the media erasure.
And the sexism.
It is too much.

This woman is brilliant and we need her.
She has receipts!
All, Thank you so much for the retweets. Please keep it going.
We must be her voice since they are trying to silence her.
