THREAD: In context of the recent @TechCrunch article on "Married couples are a startup's secret weapon", sharing @AnuradhaParekh and my experience in building @thebetterindia together:

/ Married co-founders' success happens if the two have extremely complementary skills
/ One of us is good at ideation/executing early-stage experiments. The other is good at helping those ideas/experiments scale-up massively by putting in the right processes. And these roles reverse at times too.
/ The idea of voice & exit. One of us likes to resolve most conflicts and the other prefers to choose only a few conflicts, and walk away (exit) from many. Based on the situation, one of us shows up. That helps in better overall conflict management.
/ Going deep and going broad. One of us is always thinking of the broader picture, to explore avenues we haven't thought of. The other is always going deeper in terms of efficiency, processes and ensuring the machine works smoothly.
/ When it comes to leisure, we both have almost the same taste in music, movies (Alternative rock ftw) & books. We both have a weakness for buying books! Our non-work times are like hanging out with a best friend, lamenting the lack of time to read all the books we buy.
/ And so, it really isn't just about married couples, it's about the personality traits that two co-founders have. More so important for married couples since you end up spending time together even outside your cubicles. And all that adds up to the health of your business too.
