That said, I do believe that there should be an internal "interview" process before anyone is permitted to associate themselves with the party identity on a ballot:
Consider a party as a brand, and the party can ensure you meet set standards as a brand representative.

Namely, you shouldn't be allowed to run for a party's nomination without having been a registered member of the party for n years.
And not saying only leadership should be involved in these decisions - voters registered as party members for n years should have a say.
