Hear me out: what if we do Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore, Michael Dukakis, or Walter Mondale again, but this time we do it exactly the same as last time?
You’ll forgive me if I don’t give much credence to the advice of Anti-Trump conservatives after their party gave us Trump (to their great surprise and chagrin).
And I mean this as no shade (necessarily) on those past candidates. My point is this, cherry picking one example from history and acting like it’s an irresistible law of nature is lazy historical thinking.
For example, how many people in 1980 said about Reagan “How about if we nominate Goldwater, only this time the outcome is the same?”
