Dear Sanusi,

This would be very laudable, especially that the northern elders have failed to provide a solution to the menace. Let us start from this, while we concentrate on modalities of social rehabilitation & inclusion of the millions already on the street.

But,
what about calling for a national summit, of decision & policy makers in the North; traditional institutions, religious leaders, politicians, bureaucrats, academicians & all stakeholders. You, as an Emir flag off a campaign against Almajiri menace & other social vices,
use the power you have & local influence to start a fundraising campaign, donate just what you ll use to buy expensive gowns & cars for one year, mobilize the Alikos & everyone to donate into a NORTHERN POCKET SCHEME & use it to kill several beds with one stone. For instance,
You can use it to sue any father who abuses his kids by sending them to Almajiri, use the child rights acts law that has been adopted in Nigeria in 2003. I am sure you ll have Northern lawyers that are ready to serve this cause free of charge. Again, you can use that same
fund to build schools, skills acquisition centers as well as hospitals in places that they're desperately needed. You can actually do something to influence these & so many other things if at all you are serious with the problems in Northern Nigeria. Unfortunately, you're not.
Let us also remember that arresting the parent can stop further enrollment of the poor kids to this abused Almajiri system, but we still have over 10 million of these children roaming the streets & presenting the biggest threat to us as a people. Talking will not solve this.
Glad we have initiatives coming up that are proactive, people centered & result oriented. As suggested succinctly by my brother @MustaphaNdajiwo, we need a synergy of ACTIONS from all quotas. There is either a deliberate attempt to keep toying with the issue & talking without
any meaningful action by those saddled with the responsibility to lead, or a political interest that is also deliberately serving as a stubborn spanner in our wheel. Either way, the fate is in our hands. We can do it. As @EngrJShehu said, we must do it. And I agree, we must.
This is a clarion call & a wake up call. Let us put those ideas together. Let us raise the fund from our pockets. Let us actualize the dreams of the people we so passionately claim to have concern for. Only then, the world will see us as serious people. Only then, history
will be kind to us. Only then, we can face our creator with calm that we have actually done our best.

The time is now.
