The U.S. Senate will today vote (3:30 pm) on life-saving legislation I introduced – the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

The legislation would provide protections for unborn children at 20 weeks after fertilization, a point at which there is significant scientific evidence that abortion inflicts tremendous pain on the unborn.
There are only seven countries that allow wholesale abortions at the 20-week period, including China and North Korea.

The United States should NOT be in that club.

Just spoke with Dr. Fauci on a conference call about China's decision to reopen their wet markets.

He emphatically stated this was a crazy decision by China which puts the world's health at risk.
Bringing wild and exotic animals to open markets to interact with humans and other food supplies is both crazy and dangerous.
Hope my Republican and Democratic Senate colleagues will sign onto my letter to the Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. urging the immediate closure of these wet markets for the safety of the world at large.

New unemployment numbers present great challenges to the individuals who are out of work —through no fault of their own — and our state unemployment systems.
We must get enhanced benefits out to millions of Americans who have been laid off due to coronavirus containment. Need ‘Manhattan Project’ approach to modernizing state unemployment systems so checks can flow to help workers.
We should restore 100% of their wages while at the same time not undercutting hiring and the efforts of small businesses to retain their employees. All hands on deck approach.

For next 30 days we should be ‘All In ‘ on containment and mitigation. Could save tens of thousands of lives.

▶️ Time to consider a national shelter in place.

▶️ Time to consider limiting or banning domestic and international air travel for next 30 days.
Must be ‘All In’ when it comes to saving lives.

Just last week, Jones laughed off today’s vote regarding late-term abortions when asked by a constituent about his position and called the question "stupid." This is shameful and must not be tolerated.

This hearing is yet another part of Republican leadership’s attacks on health care.

1/There is much fear mongering by the Left of the #KavanaughSCOTUS, particularly a threat that his seat will somehow overturn Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973). No doubt, most of those pushing this narrative have never read the Roe decision (caselaw.findlaw.com/us-supreme-cou…).
2/It's important to note that the Left doesn't bring up Planned Parenthood v. Casey, 505 U.S. 833 (1992), where the Court re-affirmed its Roe decision, with some minor changes (law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/t…).
3/Roe challenged Texas' statute criminalizing abortions with the exception of "saving the life of the mother" and, at times, rape or incest (noe: Norma McCorvey ("Roe") lied that she was raped, but didn't produce a police report, so she was denied).
