Health Sec Azar: We will see more cases. But for vast majority of cases, they’ll experience mild to moderate symptoms and their treatment will be to remain at home treating symptoms as they would cold or flu #COVID19
Azar: Small number of people will require hospitalization. On travel restrictions: “We want to lower the amount of travel to and from the most impacted areas.” #COVID19
NIAID Director Dr Anthony Fauci: “Community spread is when you have infection in the community in which you don’t have a direct link to known index case. That really challenges us with something we need to do and that we do well... identify, isolate & contact-trace.” #COVID19
Fauci: How do you address this new challenge? There’s what we do from within, and from without. Prevented travel from China to US - if we had not done that we’d have had many more cases right here we’d have to be dealing with. #COVID19

Fauci: The number in our country currently is low, but if you look at the pattern, seems to be following what others have had. Totality of cases reported, 75-80% doing really quite well, like bad flu or cold. 15-20-somewhat% going to require advanced medical care #COVID19
Fauci: Most at risk are elderly & those w underlying conditions: heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity. However once in awhile, will see a one-off, an otherwise healthy 25-year-old. #COVID19
Fauci: There’s no indication re-infection is going on at all. “If this virus acts like other viruses, and I have no reason to believe it won’t, once you’ve gotten infected and recovered” you’re not going to get re-infected. #COVID19
