As I said last weekend, the scandal is not principally the CDC test kit flaws. This is complex stuff and mistakes inevitably arise in crises.

The scandal is the failure to anticipate, recognize, and address a mission-critical problem - when multiple fixes were available.
That's a leadership and coordination issue, and it does not fall at CDC's (or FDA's) feet. It falls at the feet of those leading and coordinating the response - the President's White House task force.

White House will try to pin this on CDC rather than them. Don't fall for it.
Operational mistakes are inevitable.

A failure to recognize and fix them is not.

That's where the main problem lies.
