People have talked about 3D printing as a buffer against supply chain shocks since forever. It certainly won't do everything, but it might be an option for mechanical parts if your Chinese vendor has shut down.

Separately but relatedly, all the blockchain supply chain transparency work will finally have its moment.

This crisis gives an object lesson to everyone on the financial importance of knowing your supplier, and your supplier's supplier, and so on.

Alternatively, here's @ricfulop on why 3D printers may not be that helpful even in supply chain shock, not even for spare parts (assuming printer still around). Not my area at all, but v interesting.
