#COVID19 UPDATE:

Arizona is working to protect public health, prepare for the potential of additional cases and minimize the risk to Arizonans. 1/

Earlier, @AZDHS Director @DrCaraChrist and I were on a call with @VP & fellow Governors to discuss updates on #COVID19. The Vice President stressed the importance of remaining calm & steady in our efforts to protect public health — and that’s the approach we’re taking in AZ. 2/

Here’s what we know:

#COVID19 will be mild for 80% of people who contract it. But, seniors—especially those w/ underlying health issues—are at most risk for serious complications. Dr. Christ & I are in close communication w/ health leaders caring for our elderly population. 3/

.@AZDHS will send surveyors to nursing care facilities and hospitals to confirm enhanced infection control protocols are in place. We are working to ensure ALL precautions are in place. 4/

There are steps every Arizonan can take to prevent the spread:

✔️Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
✔️Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
✔️Avoid close contact with people who are sick
✔️Cover your cough or sneeze
