@AndrewYang #YangGang (thread) I just want to remind everyone what we’ve survived for perspective. We went from a struggling group of passionate supporters in late 2018 to an explosive team of supporters in 2019 with all the growing pains of diverse personalities
(Thread 1) our early group was passionate but didn’t always get along and we all had to adapt to the humanity first mindset while trying to get even local newspaper coverage. Any whisper of potential bad press felt like the torpedo that would sink this ship
(Thread 2) we survived bad press, members jumping ship, hit pieces, a media blackout, infiltration, attempts at sabatage, some of us being too broke to donate but found a way to chip in every penny we could. All of this while getting used to talking to strangers about Yang irl
(Thread 3) We persevered through attacks, defended Yang with facts and logic, trended hashtags, rage donated, printed our own pamphlets and made our own signs, found a way to organize to advertise Yang before we had YGROs, and reported to each other successful Yangs irl
(Thread 4) We answered every call hoping to get a pollster, got Yang to the debate stage time and time again. We passed out business cards and Yang bucks, Yangged family during holidays, and even forced CNN to apologize for excluding Andrew from graphics
(Thread 5) Some brave members stepped up during our desperate last push for fundraising and the humanity thirst (some innocent selfies traded too) event brought us out of depression and helped push us back into action one last time.
(Thread 6) We survived the campaign suspending and (yes I’ll take credit for this tag) trended #StillVotingYang for two days with the knowledge that Nevada was our breakout state since automation is a HUGE problem there. We refused to let the campaign end and held out hope
(Thread 7) We saw @AndrewYang become our voice to the nation once again as a commentator on CNN and saw the creation of the Humanity Forward organization be announced on The View. We waited for guidance on our next steps
(Thread 8) We’ve been through the Hell of politics together and I suspect the endorsement reaction wasn’t just who or the timing that upset so many #YangGang but the reality that we couldn’t hold out hope for VP spot or the adoption of Yang’s policies anymore
(Thread 9) This isn’t an end my fellow #YangGang @AndrewYang isn’t gone and we are still here. We just have less distractions now as we gather our collective strength to find new ways to Yang more people and grow our movement together
