Delhi High Court decides to restrict the functioning of high court from 16.03.2020 only to urgent matters. The entry of interns has been prohibited till 31.03.2020. Lawyers have been requested not to sign litigant passes till further advisory.

Allahabad HC says hoardings surfaced in Lucknow showing names, photos and addresses of those accused of violence during anti CAA protests is nothing but an unwarranted interference in privacy of people. The same is, hence, violation of Article 21. HC orders removal of hoardings.
On lack of territorial jurisdiction argument put by UP Govt, the HC says cause isn't about personal injury caused to the persons whose personal details are given in the banner but the injury caused to the precious constitutional values & its shamless depiction by administration.

Supreme Court bench headed by Nageswara Rao, J., holds that any organisation which supports the cause of a group of citizens agitating for their rights without a political goal or objective cannot be penalized by being declared as an organisation of a political nature under FCRA.
SC: To save this provision from being declared as unconstitutional, we hold that it is only those organisations which have connection with active politics or take part in party politics, that are covered by Rule 3 (vi) of FCRA Rules 2011
SC: To make it clear, such of those organisations which are not involved in active politics or party politics do not fall within the purview of Rule 3 (vi).

#SupremeCourt declines to hear Harsh Mander today in his petition after SG Tushar Mehta adduces transcripts of his reported speech at #Jamia wherein he said there is no trust left in the courts & that ultimate justice has to be on the streets.

#CJI: We will sort this out first.
#SupremeCourt tells Mander's lawyer that if this is what he feels about the courts then it will have to be decided first whether he should be given a hearing at all.

A separate petition on #DelhiViolence to be heard now.
As advocate Karuna Nundy, appearing for Harsh Mander, seeks time to verify the alleged hate speech, SG Mehta says this is strange that he wants time for verifying his own speech but wants FIRs against everyone immediately.

Senior Counsel Colin Gonsalves mentioned the plea before the Bench headed by CJI SA Bobde against the decision of the Delhi High Court of deferring the matter till April.

Gonsalves tells the Court that the matter is urgent given that deaths are being caused daily
CJI Bobde says Court is not equipped to deal with such incidents.

"We are not saying people should die... We cannot stop things from happening... We can only deal with the situation after it occurs"

Court says it wishes for peace.
