I’m trying my best to be a calm, educational resource for my friends but then I wake up, watch ‘insta stories, and see that people are rarely taking #socialdistancing seriously.
We need to WAKE UP and pay attention. We don’t have enough tests to try and confine this virus. We must focus on mitigation.
Healthcare providers are begging all of you - We are trying to stop widespread community involvement and the break down of our healthcare infrastructure.
We are working hard to plan: going through various scenarios, maximizing our clinical schedules, deleting vacations, rationing equipment - and I see restaurants FULL.
Excuse my language but #staythefuckhome

The UK Govt has said they need 60% of the population to be infected with Coronavirus for everyone to be immune.

UK Population is 66million.
So about 40million people will be infected. Over the next few weeks.

Many people will actually die while the govt does this experiment.
We have seen what the virus did in China and South Korea. We are seeing what the virus is doing in Italy right now.

But the UK is confident the best approach is to wait and let the virus get to 40 million people first.

We would see how this plays out over the next few weeks.
It is proven that being infected with the virus may NOT confer immunity. People infected before can get reinfected.

There was a woman in Japan who was infected twice with the Coronavirus.

So you wonder why UK wants it to get to 40million people first before taking it seriously.

1. At work:
✅If you're in a position of leadership, get on the same page with the rest of leadership
✅Know your institution's policies, collate them in 1 place, disseminate to employees
✅Be proactive in asking folks how they are. What ? do they have? If you don't know, say so
✅Amidst all the physical preparedness, don't forget to check on their mental and emotional health.

We are all scared. Uncertain of each coming day. Of each coming hour.

Don't assume when folks are quiet that they are not scare, confused, or just need a little comfort.

When I’m frustrated with someone, I try to imagine they are doing the best they can and think of ways forward from that perspective. It’s different from “assume good intentions”—sometimes what is “good” differs between people.
Example: your date stands you up.

Assuming good intentions: “Well they probably tried to be here but couldn’t make it for reasons.”

Believing they’re trying the best they can: “Well, they might not have the bandwidth to date right now and can’t cop to that.”
Example: new person aggressively taking over your projects.

Assuming good intentions: “This can’t be hostile. I’m just being defensive. I should try to share more.”

Assuming trying their best: “Wow. That’s a lot to take on. Why are they doing so much? Do they need help?”
