He's calling it the Chinese Virus because Steve Bannon said in 2017, “I want them to talk about racism every day. If the left is focused on race and identity, and we go with economic nationalism, we can crush the Democrats.” That's why he's calling it the Chinese Virus.
The people who get to decide if calling it the "Chinese Virus" is racist are Chinese. That said, the President and his advisors, following the Bannon credo, made the decision to try to distract us by using the term. That decision was made two days ago.
