FINALLY. Now we are talking.

Details matter, but this could open up telemedicine in a big way.
The best shot for the US right now is this kind of decentralized response.

Clear away all these regulations that have blocked tests, hobbled telemedicine, slowed drugs, and generally caused artificial scarcity.
To be clear, the decentralized response is about getting an incapable state out of the way.

The ideal would be a competent government that would have cleared away all these obstacles prior to the current emergency. And prevented that emergency.

FDA is trying to shut down at-home testing! Here’s why that’s a bad idea:

1) Hospital visits themselves can cause infections.

2) Many errors in at-home sample collection can be detected with positive/negative controls, in which case the result is a retest — rather than no test!
Yes, at-home sample collection (eg nasal swab) will have higher error rate than if done by a nurse.

But you can detect many of these errors at the lab, and send a retest if necessary. And iterate on sample collection kit.

What you get: more testing, less nosocomial infections.
Let’s remember that the alternative to at-home testing is standing in a COVID19 testing line.

That’s basically a COVID19 meetup and a great way to *create* positives.

By stopping at-home testing, FDA is forcing you to risk your life to get tested.

FDA hard at work again...stopping decentralized at-home testing. Disgraceful. Increases risk of nosocomial infection from hospitals.

Governors should act to expand right-to-try now, to route around FDA by allowing state regulators to approve. Create sanctuary states for tests.
FDA has a fundamentally broken culture: they simply don’t understand what an emergency is.

So you can’t reform them, yet they are too central to the system to abolish them.

But what works is to *exit* them by building parallel pathways around them.

Higher error rates can be detected with controls and compensated with retest, rather than no test. Engineering problem.

The alternative is less testing, more people getting sick after going to hospital for test.

Compiling a list of the official misinformation from press & state.

- Flu is more serious
- Travel bans are overreacting
- Only Wuhan visitors at risk
- Avoiding handshakes is paranoid
- Virus is contained
- Tests are available
- Masks don't help

What else?
The reason this is important is:

- people who made these mistakes haven't retracted
- indeed, many have pretended they didn't happen
- and are now pushing for censorship of "misinformation"

But without social media, seems clear the US would have been even slower to act.
Official misinformation appears to be international, across Western countries at least. Would appreciate more examples from Spain, Italy, etc before they get memory holed.

We need to document this because the folks that failed are now pushing censorship.

Guuuuyyyyys I'm sure I'm not the first one to think of this, but what if like... When Connor has nightmares, he doesn't just *experience* them, he projects them into household electronics by accident?
So like, he has bad dreams over all the shitty times he was hurt or killed, and Hank wakes up to static, voices, gunshots on his TV, blurry and poorly defined first person images. He legit thinks he's being haunted until he figures it out.
He catches on when he realizes all the memories are bad, that he's in some of them, that Connor's voice crackling over the speakers is closer than all the others. He wakes Connor up, freaked the hell out, and just holds him tightly enough to make him creak from the pressure.
