Aunty cannot calculate. 1. It is not five years 2. First three years was spent battling recession 3. Last one year was spent dealing with your distraction of failed candidacy. Now lets get back to regular programming. Structural reforms they didn’t do for 16 years 🤣😂😂🏌🏿
When it comes to preventing oil shocks, there are no fast miracles. What you need to do will take 10 years or more or consistent policies. While I must say that @MBuhari has not been an A student with speed, fact is that he has emphasized the right things while @obyezeks heckled
The most fundamental things with avoiding oil shocks are: 1. Build savings and invest for the future 2. Diversify government revenue by collecting more taxes 3. Diversify source of foreign exchange by emphasizing exporting things other than oil. Now lets explore how @MBuhari fare
1. Under @MBuhari , the @nsia_nigeria has received more investments from excess crude oil account now invested in infrastructure, strategic industries like agric and tech among others. He scores a B easily on this count. Need is great, resource limited. alltimepost.com/2019/11/nation…
2. Increasing tax collection and enhancing the tax base of Nigeria has been the focus of various policy measures in the past 4 years from new VAT regime to the finance bill, BVN & NIN policies, more enforcement that Nigerians like to hate but hey, no free lunch in Freetown.
3. Lastly, the intense focus of CBN in the 4 years on increasing funding for AgriBusiness and critical sectors like Dairy, Rice & Textiles to drive light manufacturing and import substitution are exactly the policies @obyezeks been criticizing but necessary for forex diversity
Indeed those policies on import substitution won’t only in the future yield foreign exchange, they will@also reduce demand for them to buy products we could otherwise produce! But the perennial critics have used the last 4 years to deride them, now talking?
We should also not forget their criticisms of the government borrowing plans & taxation plans to fund the structural reform agenda of the @OfficialAPCNg . They asked us not to borrow at period record low rates & global prosperity. If we listened we‘ll be screwed now during crisis
Perhaps if these guys have used their time @OfficialPDPNig in those 16 years we won’t be so far behind in the past four years scrambling to invest with massive resource constrain due to low oil prices, massive domestic debt & inefficient corrupt bureaucracy they left Nigeria
I think @MBuhari and his team need to take on these guys when they open their mouth and pretend they know everything. They don’t. We have brains & memory too. @toluogunlesi does a good reminder lessons, but we should keep it up. Keep your advice oh you failed critics.
I know for a fact that Nigeria will be more developed without the albatross of a poorly designed procurement system that is meant for the World Bank and not a developing country already far behind in the growth curve. More on that later. I can use a thread for our failed BPP.
And to round off this thread, we cannot but emphasize that the POOREST Nigerians are better placed today to weather a global storm than 2015 due to @NSIP_NG programs. That is what government is meant for; not audio SURE-P and brigandry. Those people never mattered until 2015.
