I originally made this post in 2011 on a political forum. Has anything changed?
And am I right or wrong saying Israel needs to respond to terror more forcefully and decisively?
Original Post Follows....
What feeds the cycle of violence is the indecisiveness of the Israelis.
In war, innocent people die. Peace comes when one side decides they are paying too high a price to continue fighting. The problem here is twofold.
One, #Israel already feels the price they pay in blood is too much, but surrender is no option as this war won't end until Israel is driven into the sea.
Two, Israel is burdened by this false sense of morality that when fighting a war, be as nice as possible to your enemies.
The problem with that is, when you are fighting an enemy with no regard for human life, they use your sensibilities against you.
If you declare you won't shoot children, they hide behind a child and shoot you.
Now what?
If you declare you won't destroy a mosque, they barricade themselves in an old mosque and shoot at you.
Now what?
You want to stop the bloodshed? Stop tiptoeing around bloodshed!!!
If #Israel's enemies knew that Israel would, without question or pause, destroy whole communities -- no warnings, no avoiding mosques or children or hospitals, I guarantee the so called cycle of violence would stop, WITH FAR LESS DEATH on both sides!
A false sense of morality drags on this war. #Israel can't win b/c we are too 'clean' to win a war. We fight halfheartedly - That's no way to win a fight.
If human life is infinite, those who violate it must be punished infinitely. And decisively.
ENEMIES ARE FOR DEFEATING!
