Quite scary tbh when you get into a supermarket at 8.30 in the morning and there is no fruit and veg whatsoever. This is not just about panic buying, this is about what happens when you know you can't get all of your daily or weekly shop.
Not all or even the majority of individuals are panic buying - they are following government advice to stock at least two weeks of food, and having to shop for families being at home all day. It turns out our supermarket system is fragile when behaviours change.
Please stop saying if we stop panic buying the supermarkets will all return to normal. It is not helping. Tackle the actual issue - people are concerned about not having enough food.
And please don't judge your fellow shoppers. Since we're being asked to help neighbours, family etc... if there are supermarket shortages then they and government should take the lead to tackle, not blame anonymous panic buyers.
