20 Mar 2020, Our President @MichaelDDavisJr submitted a letter on behalf of American Chamber of Commerce of Uganda members to @OPMUganda regarding clarifications on some of @KagutaMuseveni 's speech points. Specifically - See thread 
1.Import of Goods & Raw Materials: Clarification on procedures for import & export Kenya, TZ, RW, DRC, and SoSud not Cat 1 Should be free movement across the border. Need to smooth logistics & transportation process to avoid delays in supply chain, deliveries, and production
2.Support for #BUBU initiatives: AmCham believes @GovUganda should focus current laws & policies on ensuring BUBU initiatives are implemented. Many companies could use juice puree from local fruit but are unable to due to interpretation of the law
3.SOPs for Congregation: AmCham applauds the effort made by MOH. AmCham's include hotels/restaurants not part of ban. We request clarification on SOPs to ensure safety of everyone. SOPs have not been produced or distributed, to our knowledge.
4.Removal of VAT & Excise Duty on Bottled Water: Bottled water is essential commodity. Removal of VAT & excise duty will ensure that cost of production & price of bottled water gets lowered. This we believe should apply to all other necessities for the foreseeable future
5.Visiting Staff: AmCham’s membership includes many global firms. Some have visiting staff whose visas will expire & have no way of getting back home due to restrictions in their home countries. AmCham would like to suggest a free extension & a process to handle these requests.
6. Tests & Status Reporting: Information flow from @MinofHealthUG is limited to sporadic briefings. Transparency is the best solution & will assist member’s planning. AmCham suggests daily reports on # of tests performed, # of positive and negative tests, & # of deaths
