Prayer Day Reflections

Thread By Jane Amiri

It’s great that our nation has turned to God in prayer over the #coronaviruskenya . I hope this recognition of God as our savior and Lord will continue to guide us postcorona.

#KOTPrayerDay
I hope it’s a turning point where we’ll all reflect and take action on our failures in the health care and other sectors of our nation.

#KOTPrayerDay
We have millions of people today living in a lockdown in Kenya over various issues such as unemployment, disability, discrimination, mental health, violence, inflation, poverty, hunger, injustice and more.

#KOTPrayerDay
When a family has no food that family is on #lockdown.

When a child cannot go to school, schools have no facilities etc that child is on lockdown.

When a girl cannot go to school because she doesn’t have sanitary towels that girl has been forced into isolation.

#KOTPrayerDay
When a Youth has no job or source of income s/he is on #Lockdown.

When people live in insecurity & fear, attacked by gangs, robbers, arrested over nothing, police brutality, forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, these people are living in Quarantine.

#KOTPrayerDay
How are we as good Christians dealing with these lockdowns and causes of these lockdowns?

We the good Christians will answer to God for our silence, the silence that has caused lockdowns in people's lives in Kenya.

#KOTPrayerDay
We the good Christians who praise, defend and cheer on leaders (leaders at all sectors political, religious, government, institutions) who have continued to abuse power, mismanage Resources, make selfish bad decisions...

#KOTPrayerDay
...encourage looting and stealing of public money, we good Christians who are silent are one of the big reason people in Kenya are suffering various #lockdowns.

#KOTPrayerDay
I hope this corona moment will make the good Christians who have medical insurance to speak up for those without, to call out the government to provide medicine and medical workers in public hospitals.

#KOTPrayerDay
We still have many Kenyans without access to health facilities, clean water, nutritious food, quality education.

We the good Christians are challenged to action our faith.
