whenever i see older bluechecks talking to younger people about how their frustration is unjustified because things were rough in the past also with specific examples, i google their birthday and every single time theyre repping struggles that happened before they were even born
not really into the whole inter generational battling thing but theres a stark difference between glasses on “its still basically 1973” and glasses off “yeah its crazy man” people 10+ years older than me. i can easily split members of my family based on this division
whats it like being one of the woke older guys. did you guys just carry the whole generation or what. we’re all cooped up inside whats the baby-boomer internal ethnography situation

looks like the next comic im dropping is going to be about 20 pages. tried to harness the “too real” aspect, conversely i cant wait to stop working on it. having to continually put myself back into this headspace over and over has been surprisingly taxing. didnt expect it at all.
its crazy “going back” into my memories and, i suppose because its visual, going back into so many things i forgot about. was drawing a table from an old apartment and remembered everything that was on it, the room, every detail perfectly. weird how those things are stored.
also been doing this thing where ill listen to music from whatever time period of my life im trying to genuinely channel on repeat and theres like a shamanic aspect where i puncture through time and actually feel like im back there. cant wait to stop. the result is great tho ngl.

oddly this thing that has forced me to be apart from the people immediately surrounding me has made me feel closer with the (in a certain sense) abstract idea of “people in other states” and “the citizenry in general” than ever.
watching governors from across the country address their states while im working, struck with the same feeling i had seeing distant family when a relative died. like, hey we should do this more often. louisiana. why do we only talk when something bad happens. heres my number hmu
why dont governors just give addresses sometimes to let everyone else in the country know how its going in their state. i would watch that. whats going on in kansas. in washington. no one knows. how many people have seen or heard their governor speak for the first time this month

can i go full schizo mode. the places being hardest hit are former or current massive epicenters of human energy, former or current civilizational hot spots: china, persia, rome, US. seems like this would be just a “flow of people” thing but does that really explain it.
save ur “well actually” replies sometimes u have to put on the mythopoetic glasses and read life like a book instead of a science experiment. few understand this. run the numbers on where people actually go and move around to, from where, etc... doesnt totally add up. yet.
SOME PEOPLE (not me ofc) say the earth has something like chakras, chakras being a potentially non theological (supposed + hypothetical) map of how energy flows through ur body. SOME PEOPLE say the earth has something like this and there are nexuses where some of these paths meet

THREAD: We compared age distribution of deaths during 1918 Spanish Flu to ICU admissions from #COVID19 in China and U.S. on premise that some of those surviving prolonged ICU admissions in 2020 may have been people who'd be accounted for in death statistics in 1918.
In both the limited data set describing the U.S. experience to date, and larger data set from China, we see some relative correlation between age distribution of those being admitted to the ICU for #COVID19 and the age distribution of those who died from the Spanish Flu in 1918.
Among older people 65+ there is a strong skewing toward high ICU admissions from #COVID19. But it's important to look at demographic data and recognize that in 1918 there were far fewer people aged 65+. If #COVID19 had circulated in 1918, there might have been a similar skew.

It’s tempting to quibble with this, to say all the assumptions about television as some monolithic orchestrator of culture are invalidated by the internet because by god we have social media now but by it's just not true
When we watch television, we’re all alone together; we all share the same activity, but the activity itself is psychologically solitary, so each person alone when he watches it. I don’t believe the experience of social media is different in this respect

Thread about airplane creeps: I’m on a plane from a late-evening stopover from and was very tired and had a row to myself to sleep but couldn’t avoid noticing what was going on in the row behind me.
A man appearing in his late thirties was obviously delighted to be seated next to a teenager separated from the rest of her family. He started off by asking about her career plans and laughed when she said she wanted to be CEO and kept giving her ridiculous advice.
She was friendly and he seemed to take that as a welcome cue to get very familiar and started teasing her and kept saying that he wanted to take her out to eat, which she was ignoring. At this point I had to stay awake in case anything went further than that.
