Bouma vertrok in 1942 uit Groningen. Hij werd directeur van het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem. In 1948 werd hij aangesteld als eerste directeur van het Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen.
In 1951 maakte hij het stedenbouwkundig/architectonisch ontwerp van Madurodam.
Siebe Jan Bouma was ook fotograaf, vooral van architectonisch interessante gebouwen op het platteland.

A Test which was maddeningly exciting because of quality of cricket as well as for the elements of weather involved - the merciless Chennai heat, humidity.

Allan Border had brought a young Aus side to Indian shores as part of an ongoing renaissance of Aus cricket. The Indians involved in this 3 Test series were very experienced, led by Kapil Dev himself. Gavaskar was playing in his 100th consecutive Test.
In this, the 1st Test at Chennai, Border won the toss and decided to bat first. The heroes on Day 1 for Aus were David Boon (122 with 21 x 4s) and Dean Jones (54*).
Deano scored slowly in his 50 but made sure he understood the bowling and the conditions.

The pilot was Soviet celebrity Valery Chkalov, the most famous of “Stalin’s Falcons”. Chkalov was a son of a Volga boatman and a daring pilot.
The aircraft, ANT-25 was designed by the genius Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev. Revolutionary design, included the fuel tanks in the wings for the first time. The proportion of wings to the fuselage resembled a glider, allowing the plane to fly huge distances without refuelling.

#OnThisDay in 1945, the US drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
Three days later, on August 9, a Fat Man plutonium implosion-type bomb was dropped by another B-29 on Nagasaki.
The Allies called for the unconditional surrender of the Imperial Japanese armed forces in the Potsdam Declaration on July 26, 1945—the alternative being "prompt and utter destruction". The Japanese ignored the ultimatum and the war continued.
