Just look at the bad faith & deliberate misrepresentation in this article. Ferguson isn't "walking back" or "running from" his previous modeling. He's saying 1) the lockdowns are helping, & 2) we've learned more about the virus. thefederalist.com/2020/03/26/the…
Look at this. She has aped the form and structure of a news report on viral disinformation campaigns & is using it to frame a "flatten the curve" modeling website as a deliberately crafted disinfo operation aimed at tanking the economy. thefederalist.com/2020/03/25/ina… 
This getting it backwards is deliberate, I think. You have to really misinformed about the basics of how the grownup world works to think that this one doctor with his one outbreak model is responsible for lockdowns from Wuhan to Italy to the US.
I try to be charitable but this is childish & dumb, & so r u if you believe all the state governors in the US looked at this one model from this one British doctor & were like "oh crap gotta nuke the economy now! He has a chart & a sophisticated accent!"
Seriously if you honestly believe that one British epidemiologist or one modeling website, or even the both of them together, are ultimately to blame for what is happening now, then you are a child & nobody should listen to you.
This idea that the Imperial College came up w/ a model, then US media ran with it & somehow was able to singlehandedly browbeat the CDC, HHS, & all the other US public health authorities into recommending the lockdowns w/ it... it's so stupid, & if you believe it you are stupid.
Sorry to be so blunt, but I just ran out of patience with this particular thing exactly three tweets ago. Scroll back up & bookmark it, b/c that was when I officially ran out of you-know-whats for anyone pushing this.
He's exactly right. The Federalist is just lying, & anyone who can read can see it.
The misrepresentations and refusal to retract when caught out spreading disinformation is not limited to one part of the political spectrum or institutional category. Eg I caught academic @joel_c_miller spreading misinfo & he just ghosted me.
So when you’re angry at rags like the Federalist for misleading the public with impunity, spare a thought for the many doctors & academics who’ve done the same in recent weeks & will probably face no consequences.
