Our schools are cesspools; training centers designed to churn out worker bees and corporate drones who serve at the altar of the inane between bouts for survival of the best regurgitators of answers to questions that are obsolete before they're asked,

while our inquisitive imaginations wither and die in a mad race for mediocrity in the guise of good grades.

We arm ourselves with guns and gods designed to destroy our enemies and alarms to ward off our fear of fear such that our perceived peace of mind becomes a construct tied to tools of terror rather than the energy of a well society grounded in goodwill and good acts.

Instead of "love one another," we indulge in fear and hatred and the artificial relief that at least we're better off than *that* poor sot, sitting there on the sidewalk in unwashed offense to our finer senses,

as we walk by on shoddy scaffolding, never admitting to ourselves that we're one step away from our own fall into desperation.

One layoff.
One illness.
One pandemic.

Instead of "welcome, stranger," we cringe at the concept of that which is not like us and lock those who frighten us in filthy, freezing cages,

never realizing that by locking up the babies of the "others," we set the path for our worst fears to become visited upon our own babies in future generations when the oppressed come into their own power.

The time to fight for our lives was when the lives of innocents were threatened for seeking shelter within our shores, for what we allow visited upon the "least" among us establishes a baseline of morality - or immorality - which becomes a blessing - or a bill.

We watched the theatrics of impeachment hearings and trial in satisfaction, never challenging House Democrats on why Trump wasn't being impeached for GENOCIDE or any other defiance of human rights or U.S. laws.

We applauded the finger wagging and speech ripping and love fest over a corrupt, career politician who successfully cut our heads off without our even knowing we were bleeding.

When Trump makes his moves to sieze full and final authoritarian power there will be no more opposition from House or Senate Democratic leaders on our behalf than there has been for the refugees.
