That interview with Dr. Alyward of WHO is a breathtaking show of just how much our global institutions are captured and compromised.

I want to highlight why the conservative media ecosystem is important, even if you don't agree with their politics.
Hours after the interview went viral on Twitter, the only media reporting on it was @Fox, @DailyCaller, @TheBlaze, etc.

The mentions of Dr. Alyward by NYT, & WaPo were weeks ago.

In a world without the former, this could've slipped off the radar as quickly as it appeared.
As a result of this media coverage, WHO quietly scrubbed Dr. Alyward's name from their official website (luckily there are archives).

Liberals need to see the vital role even explicitly right-wing media plays. It could not be clearer.

The WHO has been thoroughly exposed.

A friend who's a practicing physician in one of the largest hospitals in LA mentioned that there's one thing we need to address in light of the covid19 pandemic:

vent farms

Because sooner or later, we'll have to talk about what to do with them as the CA case load increases.
Usually, when a person goes into a coma, they move them from the ER to a sub-acute unit. Although a fraction might recover, there are special units where no one does.

These are called “vent farms,” shorthand for the ventilators that keep the neurologically-devastated breathing.
They were created by the state over 20 years ago to get life-supported comatose patients out of more expensive hospital beds. Now, 125 subacute units operate across the state. 14 are just for children.

Medi-Cal (CA's Medicaid) pays for most subacute care - as much as $900 a day.

Life in Singapore (243 cases, 0 deaths) has pretty much returned to normal.

People are walking around, mostly without masks. Shops & restaurants are open.

Big events & school activities such as tournaments were canceled, but schools remained open unless there was a case.
How:
- travel restrictions (they did this early)
- isolated infections
- aggressive contact-tracing procedures
- levied tough penalties for not following quarantines
- punished those who provided false info
- effective communication that struck right balance
- full transparency
What they didn't do:

- area-wide lockdowns
- edict to close businesses
- weld people shut in their apartments
- press to call government officials' actions racist
- punish whistleblowers
- care about "looking bad," thereby obscuring reality

China just sentenced Gui Minhai to 10 yrs in prison for the "crime" of selling books. His story reinforces two truths:

1. The Chinese vision of the world is outright incompatible with the free world's

2. The HK protesters are on the right side of history

Who is Gui Minhai?
Gui is a Hong Kong-based book seller with dual passports (Swedish + China). He published, among other things, titillating books exposing the Chinese leadership.

While in Thailand, he was kidnapped (Thailand & China have a compromise) by China's secret police.
This is why Hong Kongers have been vigorously protesting the extradition bill.

If the CCP was brazen enough to do this to Mr. Gui, a Swedish national in a foreign country, illegally, what would do to Hong Kong if they had carte blanche vis-a-vis the extradition bill?

I have refrained from criticizing Chris Wray, but this is not a good look. Jim Baker is one of the very finest public servants in the national security establishment. washingtonpost.com/amphtml/world/…
Nobody will begrudge Wray picking his own team over time. But when the Bureau is under fire from the political echelon—including the President—it is no time to be doing anything that anyone will confuse with cleaning house or appeasing those who would politicize law enforcement.
This will play exactly the wrong way on Fox News and in the conservative media ecosystem, who will see it as the beginning of the purge they have been calling for. It will also play badly within the FBI, where it will been as a director who caved at the expense of his people.
