I did not make predictions; I did the math 8 days ago here on Twitter; days after he said NY’s apex will be April 6-13 with a need of 30,000 ICU beds. Even if you had a full health meltdown you were not going to need 30K by April 6th. Not sure who does the “models” for NY.
NYC hospitals operate on the brink year-round. With a flow of Covid-19 patients, things are bad. By keeping family/private doctors out things are even worse than it needs to be. But being unable to handle 5,500 ICU cases does not mean you need to predict 30K ICUs all in use at
once in the second week of April. We don’t need to say the latter to address the former. 3 weeks ago I kept pointing out that the lesson from Italy is that hospitals melted with a mere 1,500 severe cases. But oddly, the focus to up capacity here in NY came later. 👀 👇🏼 
I YELLED about upping hospital capacity before many politicos in the NYC area were yelling about shutting down schools which was before they focused much on hospitals. Sun 3/15 the NYC Council Speaker had 12 consecutive tweets about shutdowns, ZERO about hospitals.
