@Social411Now Actually that question is answered tentatively.

fda.gov/food/food-safe…

Yes, we need leaders who believe in science. At the top, we have only Dr Fauci, & he has to waste loads of time stroking trump's ego to get trump to listen. However, we do have some gov's who believe...
@Social411Now ...in science, and some agency heads, particularly of science oriented fields, who believe in science, and who are doing their best to get reliable information out to the public, who can then choose what to do, how to work around the "leaders" in the WH.

@Social411Now Yesterday I created a thread on NY, NYC, and a few national-oriented websites providing consistently reliable info. Responsible media essentially essentially summarize what you find on those science-oriented sites.

Your post here reminded me to include the FDA.

@Social411Now As far as I can tell in my numerous searches, every single major [and even minor] responsible news agency has a coronavirus section on their sites providing links to sites where you can go to get reliable info updated daily.

My NY/NYC oriented thread of resources: next tweet.
@Social411Now This thread guides you to several reliable pages for info New Yorkers--who are at the center of the CV19 "bomb site"--need.

However, at least 3/4ths to 4/5ths of the information on those sites applies to every geographical region in the US.

@Social411Now To find specific info for your state/city, these search terms will probably get you everything that is available...if not in the results of the search, in internal references within each site.

coronavirus [your state]
coronavirus [your city]
coronavirus [your region]

@Social411Now You can also add words to get more specific info, such as

coronavirus [your state] rent payment moratorium
coronavirus [your state] mortgage payment moratorium

You will have to assess the quality of the info provided by the links [e.g. pretty much ignore anything on Fox...
@Social411Now ...and other right-wing, trump supportive news agencies, or from the incompetent cabinet members hired for their loyalty rather than for their knowledge and experience].

@Social411Now Someone out there has to have created, or is in the process of creating, a guide to every reliable source for CV19 information on every possible CV19 related problem, such as mental health.

@Social411Now In all my various searches I have found individuals and organizations that, seeing a need they can help with, do what they can w/o waiting for a leader to tell them what to do. There is no time for all we need to go thru official channels.

@Social411Now That means everyone must put their thinking caps on. Assess the quality of info provided. "Triangulate" [a scientific term used in research as a means of verifying information] the information to see if the 1 you're evaluating offers similar info to other sites but adds to it.
@Social411Now Someone [not me--I'm an inconsistent worker due to health issues. I guarantee the sources I recommend have been vetted, but can't work more than a few hours a day.

Such a project requires lots of people to join in, with a few people to organize so work isn't duplicated.

@Social411Now In times of widespread and lengthy crises such as this, people who never saw themselves as leaders learn that they CAN lead, at least in areas where they have expertise.

Even if you can't be a project leader, you can lead in the search for someone who can/will be.

@Social411Now We all have to find within us the best that we can be right now. Most people, pushed by an emergency, find strengths within themselves they never knew they had.

So look around. Develop & refine internet searching and critical thinking skills.

@Social411Now This crisis will be long, and it will be the most extraordinarily difficult situation most of us have ever encountered in our lives. Exceptions are those who've fought on the front lines in war, especially those who fought in WWII and are still alive.

@Social411Now But even that isn't the worst that human civilization has encountered in known history.

Hiroshima. Nagasaki. All gov't & social support agencies...incinerated.

WE can do this. WE can solve problems. WE can find info, evaluate it, and pass it on.

Japan 1945 had no internet.
