Sending absentee ballot applications only to the demographic most favorable to Trump is a transparent attempt at election-rigging by Trump.

Yet it is written up as though it reflects sincere concerns about fraud, because *journalism and the people who practice it are broken.*
This article is a spectacular example of privileging the lie. It’s framed as Democrats trying to change voting rules in order to sway an election. That’s a GOP lie. Reality: Democrats are trying to ensure everyone can vote; Republicans are trying to ensure Republicans can vote.
Trump and Republicans are explicitly saying they don’t want everyone to vote because they’ll lose, and that they want to help only the demographic most supportive of them vote.

You don’t need to read minds to know that. It’s what they’re saying. politico.com/news/2020/04/0…
Every reporter who will cover Trump’s comments about mail in voting knows he’s lying, they know he has said if everyone is able to vote, Republicans lose. Honest ones will report it that way. Dishonest ones will pretend he’s sincerely concerned about fraud
No, reporters who quote Trump’s new remarks without noting *his explicit statement that he doesn’t want universal voting because Republicans wouldn’t win if more people voted* are doing it wrong.
Jesus christ, the issue here isn’t that Trump used a mail in-ballot himself but doesn’t want universal vote by mail; it’s that he doesn’t want universal vote by mail because *he wants to stop people from voting, so he can win.*
Mild and debatable hypocrisy isn’t the problem. The problem is a lawless autocrat trying to prevent people from voting so he can stay in power.

Our news media is so broken.
PSA for the (almost always) dudes who keep saying shit like this to me:

I co-created a media watchdog organization 16 years ago for the precise purpose of dealing with the shit you want to lecture me about, and also fuck off.
