Also, just to give a shoutout in a positive way. I've done 3 lovely video calls using whereby.com now. One of them had a bit of a weak video signal, then we tried Zoom, and it was the same!, so concluded it was a poor internet connection. There are good alternatives.
That doesn't mean Zoom isn't sitting on some solid, underlying video tech. They do. But there are plenty of other choices that are plenty good enough in the majority of cases. Give them a try!
