I've been having the heartbreaking conversation with so many Black people who are dreading tomorrow and the Zoom calls or the ”How are you?” -

Your Black leaders and employees are not OK.

It's triggering to ask ”How are you”
I hope CEO’s & Executive Sponsors for Black ERG’s and other ERG’s

Head of Diversity and Inclusion have reached out and connected with your Black ERG leaders and your Black employees.

At the very least ensure all mandatory meetings have a ”No Video Requirement” please
The #Emotionaltax Black employees are going through right now is through the roof.

Many I've spoken to are feeling rage, fear, anger, resignation, exhaustion, defeat and more.

Be uncomfortable, put #Blacklives BEFORE your feelings @RachelCargle

It's the HUMAN thing to do.
And please don't assume that the call is enough - it IS the beginning of the conversation because prior to #COVID19 your #DiversityandInclusion Strategy didn't prioritize #BlackExcellence, #Blackleadership and their overall #Wellbeing
Systemic racism can only be dismantled through accountability and bold action.

By being uncomfortable, by facing your own #Whitefragility - by being brave enough to change the guards who gave upheld the status quo for so long.

If #BlackLivesMatter prove it through action.
If you are neutral and choose to window dress by posting an inspirational quote by a prominent Black leader - please ask yourself or your Executive Coach (not another white person who looks like you)-

”Why am I OK with what's happening to Black people in Canada and the US?”
CEO’s and #DiversityandInclusion Leaders who are not Black will NOT -
Their actions will show us where they stand In terms of their comfort level with racism.

And for many - their comfort level is high.

History shows us this. Hoping many will do the right thing.
As a former leader (20+ years) in #Fintech - starting a Black ERG was a FIGHT - so I know personally what some of your leaders have gone through.

I didn't lead one through #COVID19 and the racial trauma they're going through right now. So I KNOW the #Emotionaltax is higher.
