Some important, but valid questions arise as I reflect upon the protests that happened in opposition to #CAA all over the country. Collating my thoughts as a thread and sharing it. The questions are open for anyone to answer. (1/N)

The #CAA guarantees to instantly provide Citizenship to all persecuted minorities from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, who entered India before 31st Dec, 2014. There are 30K+ such immediate beneficiaries who will now be granted Indian Citizenship. (2/N)
Now, questions are raised by few senior MPs and politicians about why Muslims have been excluded. Obvious reasons include:

1. Out of the 30k people who are awaiting Indian #citizenship for many years, there are Hindus, Sikhs, Parsi, Jain, Buddhist and Christians. (3/N)
2. There is not a single Muslim in this list, who wants Citizenship citing religious persecution from any of the 3 countries.

3. This is done to fix the mistakes of the partition in 1947. Not just the #BJP, many parties including the #Congress have openly supported this. (4/N)
4. India was divided on the basis of #religion. Now, Afg, Pak and Ban have Islam as a state religion. So, why is there even the question of religious prosecution for Muslims in these 3 countries? It is more evident from the records of the 30K+ #migrants who are now seeking. (5/N)
5. Now, some claim that #Hazaras in Afg and #Ahmadis in Pak are facing persecution. But, why is there not even one such person among the 30K+ people who migrated to India and are seeking Citizenship. (6/N)
6. And, how is it even #Religious #persecution when they're Muslims and their State religion is Islam? Is is not similar to caste/class discrimination ? And, why should India work on solving this ? (7/N)
7. Muslims from these countries, if they want to become Indian Citizens can very well continue to seek Indian Citizenship through the existing process of #Naturalisation for migrants from any other country. The #CAA hasn't discriminated anyone of this provision. (8/N)
The ones who are protesting, do you oppose these persecuted minorities becoming Indian citizens? If so, why ?

And, are there enough examples in the history of last 73 years that any #Indian Muslim migrated to these countries due to any form of #persecution? (9/N)
In 2003, Dr. #ManmohanSingh in the floor of the Parliament asked the then Deputy PM LK Advani for granting citizenship to these 30K+ migrants. Now, why didn't he move anything in regard to this in his 10 year tenure? (10/N)
Some claim that the #NRC+#CAA will be a disaster for Muslims. What's the need for NRC all over the country? In #Assam there's a history to why it was required, Assam Accord of 1985. The Supreme Court has been warning subsequent governments to act on it for a long time. (11/N)
The #SC warned the government and started the exercise in #2013 and are directly supervising this. It would be Contempt of Court if the govt is not carrying out #NRC for #Assam and what started in last Congress govt continued and ended recently. (12/N)
The exercise was futile, costly and the results show an extremely high number of False Positives and False Negatives. 19L people are rendered stateless filing appeals to help themselves from being pushed into #detention centres. (13/N)
The Citizenship Amendment Act 2003, clearly mentions the preparation of a National Register of Indian Citizens (#NRIC), none of the presently opposing parties including the #DMK that was back then, an important alliance partner of the then NDA govt had opposed it in 2003! (14/N)
For anyone who understands the history of Assam Accord, #NRC in Assam, it is obvious in plain sight that the NRIC (for all of India) will not even require documents proving ancestry. Also, there is no information of the NRIC or any draft of it being prepared. (15/N)
Home Minister #AmitShah chest beating about bringing NRC to rest of country had created massive unrest, adding to a lot of disinformation that was doing the rounds already. The #HomeMinistry came back with an explainer in Dec 2019 clarifying such doubts, fake theories. (16/N)
Some self-proclaimed experts assert that the current govt brought #CAA to somehow fast track and provide citizenship to the 5L Hindus who got missed out in the drafts of NRC, Assam. Absolutely senseless piece of argument. (17/N)
How in the world will the 5L Hindus be able to prove that they migrated from Afg, Pak or Ban before 31 Dec, 2014 to be automatically qualified for #IndianCitizenship through #CAA? (18/N)
What is the real motto of #ShaheenBagh Protesters ? Do you think Citizenship must not be granted to persecuted minorities ? Why do you have to oppose #CAA ? You could oppose #nationwide #NRC and even for that, could have stopped protests after the govt explainer (19/N)
The Parliament has acted pertinent to #article11 of the constitution and has not violated anything. And, what's the logic with states like #Kerala and #WestBengal claiming that they will not implement CAA, What is with you CMs, It's to grant citizenship and is implemented! (20/N)
#BlindOpposition to the Union govt in this matter, is utterly senseless and people are not fools to be misled by such baseless claims. Not anymore when they can dig up and read history and politics at the comfort of their mobile phone. (21/N)
By unnecessarily opposing #CAA, you're only painting yourselves more Anti-Hindu, or more #pseudosecular and alienating yourselves more from the majority. That's working to the advantage of #BJP already, and why are you helping the score needlessly?! (22/N)
