In 1972, The #ClubofRome published its '#LimitsToGrowth', using simulations to describe the impact of resource depletion on #economic growth. The Club was founded in 1968 by David #Rockefeller, the industrialist Aurelio Peccei & Alexander King.

Its computer-generated models of #doom were designed to impress but were based on simplistic ideas & dubious assumptions. The report, nonetheless, remains influential & illustrates the #Rockefeller obsession with population growth & #resource control

A few years earlier, in 1969, another #Rockefeller report was produced: 'Population Growth & the American Future'. The project was commissioned by #Nixon & overseen by David’s brother, John D. Rockefeller III. It looked ahead to the year 2000: population-security.org/rockefeller/00…

With population growth as “one of the most serious challenges to human destiny”, families should no longer reproduce on a basis of “#tradition, custom, ignorance,....” but behave “#rationally”

The recommendation for #diets was to “shift away from consumption of animal livestock towards vegetables & synthetic meats” & “a closed system of agriculture—FOOD FROM FACTORIES”

The anticipated problem was that the public wouldn't appreciate it🙄

The Commission called for an “international economic order, capable of dealing with natural resources & environmental conditions on a world scale”. The new order should be implemented by a body with “assigned central responsibility” & “serve as a “lobby for the future”

Although this “body” wasn't specified, it wouldn't take long for it to emerge in its embryonic form within the #UN sphere (Stockholm 1972), heavily influenced by futurists & the #NewAge movement.
