As the basic strategy of #Pak was to launch a powerful attack in the West, a large portion of her Armed Forces was deployed there. These included two Armoured Divisions, ten Infantry Divisions, two Armoured Brigades and seven POK Brigades. (3/n)

East #Pakistan was garrisoned by more than four Infantry Divisions. In addition, the East Pakistan Civil Armed Force was also available. (4/n)

Two Armoured Divisions & ten Infantry Divisions available in West #Pakistan were divided into a ‘Holding Force’ & a ‘Strike Force’. Seven Infantry Divisions were to be used for holding the ground all along the #Jammu&Kashmir, #Punjab & #Rajasthan border. (5/n)

#IndianArmedForces were resolute to defend the Nation and ready not only to win the war decisively but also to stop the #Pak atrocities & genocide in #Bangladesh. (6/n)

#IndianArmy had deployed 13 Infantry Divisions, one Armoured Division, three Independent Infantry Brigades & four Independent Armoured Brigades against the large #PakistanArmy on the Western Front. (7/n)

Six Infantry Divisions & one Infantry Brigade were deployed in Eastern Sector. These were organised into three Corps & a Communication Zone Area (CZA) under the #EasternCommand. (8/n)

2 Corps, 4 Corps, 33 Corps, & 101 Communication Zone Area were deployed West, East, North West, & North of East #Pakistan respectively. (9/n)

In the Northern Sector of the Western front, three Corps were deployed along the border. 11 & 12 Infantry Division & about one Infantry Brigade were deployed in the Southern Sector of Western Front which was stretching from Ganganagar to Rann of Kutch. (10/n)

11 & 12 Infantry Division were responsible for operations in #Barmer & #Jaislmair Sector respectively. In #Jaislmair, 45 Infantry Brigade Group was deployed along Kishangarh-Tanot-Sadhewala Road. (11/n)

#IndianNavy & #IndianAirForce were also suitably deployed on the two fronts keeping in view the objectives of the war. (12/n)
