Today's rainfall forecasts for the wider area follow.
The big picture this evening.

Europe is stormy in the East and the West.

#ArabianStorms have returned to a less unusual format.

Big Rains continue in the Nile Basin.

And night has fallen on the Indian monsoon.
Four North Africa 10-Day rainfall forecasts for today June 18th. Forecasts for the West Africa Monsoon are continuing to move north particularly in the West.
48-Hour rainfall forecasts from the same three models.
A North West Sahara #WestAfricaWaterPlume event is once again running hot.

The formation you see closely matches the current jet-stream pattern. Storms over Iberia, left, are powered by the cold air coming down on the far left turning 180 degrees off Morroco.
The plume on the right which is coming up across the Sahara is still turning sharp right once it arrives over the Mediterranean and heading east south east.

Here we see the transit of more air-born moisture, to the Horn & sourced in South East Asia & the Bay of Bengal.

Tonight's Arabian Storms at sunset. Winds appear to have stepped up and changed direction, the form of the storms is more similar to what we have seen in April and May.
And finally, June 18th 16-day (GFS) and 12-day (KMA) accumulated rainfall forecasts for the Middle East.

Rainfall on the Arabian Peninsula looks set to continue.

It’s pretty clear that there is only one option in this ongoing conflict on the middle east the U.S. has to back down. it’s like a shortened Vietnam war, the U.S cannot win and a second. MOU likely with far greater concessions to Iran is the only path out of it.

Whether Trump and the Congress are able to accept this is a moot point but if they continue on the current trajectory the result will almost certainly be much more damage to gulf states Kuwait / Bahrain/ Qatar / UAE and Saudi Arabia are all in the cross hairs now
That all being said a humiliating defeat is a far better outcome than a complete end to peace in the gulf and further escalation that will doubtless cause a massive collapse in trust globally a very deep recession globally and quite likely food and oil shortages all over the planet

Finally CNNs Kaitlan Collins coverage of Epstein is also superb - especially her interview with one of the survivors advocates.

It appears that the insane and deeply evil manipulations emanating from the white house & Justice Department related to the now (but not really) released Epstein files are a complete cover up. Not only are survivors names unredacted effectively putting a target on their backs (my words not from the report….

… but the witness testimonies from survivors are in some cases maybe most of them - completely redacted.
Whilst driving today I listened to a lot of extraordinarily good reporting about mostly #ICE+MURDER & Intimidation the open congressional hearing is particularly good including astonishing accounts from other victims of ICE that are simply terrifying.

The U.S. constitution appears to be holding up at this point. But the drip drip of the Epstein files means President Donald Trump is looking increasingly impeachable and this will almost certainly trigger the begining of a premature end of @realDonaldTrump’s presidency. /1
Subpoenas of internal justice department officials will likely be the next step. And as there is bipartisan agreement on this there is no “get out of jail free” card on the table for those implicated in this horror show. /2
As the net closes in on the growing number of investigation suspects in this widening gyre it is becoming increasingly likely that the impact of this political events in the U.S.Capitol on politics across the entire U.S. will be seismic in scale.

This @nytimes New York Times report is startling in its implications. Trump appears to have won the dominance contest OVER @IsraeliPM Netanyahu, who has been it seems diminished within Israel politically as a consequence of @realDonaldTrump’s interventions.

I, for one hope very much that he succeeds in his objectives.
Very importantly Trump is holding the line on extremist Israeli efforts to annex the West Bank. Should Trump hold course the possibility of a real long term 2 state solution - with Israeli and Palestinian cooperation may yet come into view.
