1/. @MattHancock on #r4today claims he pushed back the GP #DataGrab by two months

@MishalHusain fails to point out that it is 8 MONTHS since the FIRST deadline passed to “opt out” of another NHS patient data sharing scheme!

Our data iseven advertised by the Dept of Trade!👇
2/. The “opt out” from having your NHS patient data shared with pharmaceutical companies was 30 Sept 2020

It didn’t apply "when there is an overridinng public interest...for example, to help manage contagious diseases like #COVID19

So there was NO opt out & NO media coverage.
3/. Last Wednesday #MattHancock claimed that GP’s having exclusive control of patient data is “undemocratic”

Instead he says he wants every citizen to “control their own data” (!?)

That may sound great, but how would that work in practice?

I trust my GP

I don’t trust Hancock
4/. @MattHancock side steps @MishalHusain’s question about human rights concerns about the CIA-founded, spy-tech, genomics firm #Palantir

We already know that Big Tech mine & sell our data, but the new frontier lies not in our consumer behaviour, but in our biological selves.
5/. The NHS = the most trusted brand in the UK

Cambridge Analytica = the least trusted

And yet #Palantir who run our #COVID19 data store rprtdly taught #CambridgeAnalytica how to scrape data

It is great that some mainstream journalists are finally starting to get up to speed
7/. Take look at what the govt has been doing over the last months

@MattHancock & his lieutenants have been telling us the plan is about saving lives – while giving themselves the right to share our data with whoever they want & fudging legal protections.

1/. Starting today, the most important courtroom drama the UK has ever seen

The PM challenged on grounds of national security following the findings of the #RussiaReport by
@BenPBradshaw @RhonddaBryant @CarolineLucas @LordStras @AlynSmith & @PJWheatcroft
2/. Last July - after much delay - the #RussiaReport was finally published

It’s findings were truly terrifying

It revealed the govt & intelligence agencies had actively avoided looking for evidence that Russia interfered in the Brexit vote

Self-sabotage
3/. The implications of the #RussiaReport fed into my ongoing investigation into what appears to be a global #DataGrab for population-wide genomic data

I’d already traced the plan back to 2015

Russian interference in the 2016 #Trump election & #Brexit vote made perfect sense!

1/. On Wednesday, @MattHancock claimed that GPs having exclusive access patient data was "undemocratic"(!)

This is bonkers

There are 7.5k trusted data controllers in the NHS at the moment

How will it work with 60m?!

He ALSO broke #COVID rules & lost his voice👇
#BreakingNews
#MattHancock often seems to have problems when asked simple questions

When FINALLY asked who issued the instruction to send people from hospitals to care homes without testing & if it was approved by a Minister &, if so, which one? - he lost his hearing!
When asked about the failure of the App & @didoharding’s “cherry on the cake” (the £37b Test & Trace fiasco) @MattHancock faked hysteria

“I think many of my viewers will think this isn’t a laughing matter,” said @KayBurley

The death toll had hit 65,000

Today women’s & LGBTI+ organizations, political parties & people from all over Turkey are marching to demand that #Turkey reverse it’s decision to withdraw from the #IstanbulConvention on violence against women. THREAD👇#İstanbulSözleşmesindenVazgeçmiyoruz

1/. “All countries must stop selling arms to #Myanmar following the a resolution by the UN”

How about this for a crazy idea?

Why don’t we stop the arms trade altogether

Why flood the world with a never-ending flow of ever more advanced deadly weapons? amnesty.org/en/latest/news…
2/. For hundreds of years this tidal mill was one of 9 grinding corn for London

In 1588, one of the mills was turned into a gunpowder mill

This was a choice

To grind corn for bread to feed people or grind gunpowder for the muskets & canons to kill people

They chose gunpowder
3/. The world has lurched from one bloody conflict to another

The 1914-18 “War to End All Wars” was followed by another war & another & another

A year ago, even a meticulously negotiated attempt to call a global ceasefire during the coronavirus pandemic was derailed...by the US

Perhaps it says more about the state of my mind than it does about the state of the country, but watching the #ENGSCO game in the pub, I thought I saw a British Union of Fascists flag

They were at the anti-lockdown demo last year

Look out for them at the ‘Freedom March’ today. ImageImage
The anti-lockdown movement has brought together an strange confluence of groups

But the involvement of the far-right is disturbing

Their spores of hate travel wide on the winds of social media, even parasitically hijack the language of human rights: “freedoms”, “liberties” etc. ImageImageImageImage
Language has always been a battleground, but the “Culture War” is intensifying very rapidly

Even before the #COVID19 pandemic,
the forces of progress had been in retreat as the narrative was increasing framed not just by conservatives but by the far-right.

1/. Dido Harding officially applies to become CEO of NHS England

“If she gets the job after spaffing £37bn on Test & Trace, it’s blatant corruption & we should report it to the government’s corruption tsar who is - *checks notes* - #DidoHarding’s husband. Oh.” @davidschneider
2/. #DidoHarding will no doubt draft very compelling cover letter, but I’d suggest anyone on the @NHSEngland interview panel looks at this @PrivateEyeNews article

It puts together things that Dido somehow left out of her official CV

Her career appears to be a litany of disaster Image
3/. “Putting Dido Harding in charge of the NHS would be like putting Gavin Williamson in charge of schools” @davemacladd

As well as getting a peerage, Dido
has also won awards: two wooden spoons from @DailyMailUK for “worst customer service in the UK” while she was at @TalkTalk Image
