In the weeks since Jul 19, we’ve seen the slow but sure abandonment of #COVID restrictions
V few 😷s in indoor public places, 5-10% ppl are still wearing them, if that.

Festivals are happening, nightclubs are open, there’s virtually nothing that’s out of #Covid19UK bounds.

Restrictions on numbers gathering anywhere gone!

❗️England is now a very dangerous place to live❗️

That is not a hysterical “I don’t want to #LiveWithCovid type statement.

That is a fact!

There’s a global pandemic going on but ppl here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿have been fooled into believing that they are DIFFERENT… EXCEPTIONAL perhaps?

I say this w/ some confidence having just spent 4/7 in Palma, a city one must surely describe as a lively, sociable place which thrives on human interaction.

I’ve resisted mentioning I left the UK but it’s my duty to report the stark differences btn the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿/🇬🇧 & 🇪🇸 approach.

I must just add that we were due to spend the bank holiday/our wedding anniversary weekend in Cornwall, here👇🏼….

Not surprisingly we agreed it was far too risky to go.

Slightly anxiously we agreed to head abroad.
#Palma did not disappoint - it is as beautiful & enchanting as I remember it & to our added delight it felt incredibly #COVID safe EVERYWHERE!

It was v obvious that ppl CARED!

From the moment we boarded the plane, the difference was clear.

At the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿airport ppl behaved as if #COVID had gone away & stared at us with bemusement when they saw us wearing 😷s!

In 🇪🇸, everyone >6 is expected to #WearAMask indoors - shops/bars/restaurants/museums/taxis…

In 27deg heat, waiters/ chefs, kitchen/hotel staff, tour guides, shop workers, taxi drivers…. - ALL STAFF WEARING 😷s indoors & OUT!

The minute you step indoors, you are expected to don a 😷 & only remove it when sitting eating/drinking or when you leave - no ifs, no buts!

The only ppl of any nationality that we observed NOT following Spanish public health advice during the entire 4 days were from 🇬🇧, in particular 2 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿ppl staying in the same hotel, who were repeatedly seen maskless indoors.

The sense of disappointment when travelling back through an 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿airport, stopping at a busy service station & going to a supermarket back in Newcastle was quite overwhelming…..Dystopian in fact!

It had been truly liberating to be somewhere where there was a sense of #CollectiveResponsibility again, where ppl were having a really enjoyable time WHILST still respecting the health & wellbeing of others around them.

And I must just add for my HCP colleagues that #PPE Majorcan style is far superior to ours…..This is the chap doing PCR/LFT swabs…Not a plastic apron or FRSM in sight!

As 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿schools return with virtually no #COVID19 mitigations this week, the sense of dread amongst HCPs, parents & staff is real.

Tragically, v few others seem to be bothered….. A dangerous mix of ignorance & selfish #MeMeMe attitude has engulfed our nation.
