This mornings rant is for ppl that keep losing ppl.

Or, ppl that keep losing ppl & there never seems to be time to process all the death, or for the people that constantly live in grief since they were young cause people are always dying.

Olivia passed away the other day. Some sent me a screen shot on a story about someone saying goodbye. Apparently it happened last week.

Like all of us I rush to her social media “no way” I think. Looking for an obituary cause we live far from home now. #Minneapolis

My mind floods - which isn’t about Olivia - it’s about losing many friends and chosen family to these common killers 1) fetanyl 2) suicide 3) homicide.

My bias tells me it’s surely 1 of the 3. B/c I’ve lost more ppl to the top 2 - around 15-20 to be exact. #suicide #fetanyl

I think about how old she is - (29-32) and realize she still lies within the most popular age range for young women to commit suicide. #MentalHealthMatters

My friend tried calling to tell me cause she realizes she sent this weird social media screen shot of a death of someone close to me.

It’s okay, we’ve lost societal traditions of grief, & I know - ppl do hard, weird, interesting things when they are grieving.

This is the process of a home town death.

News - always given in the wrong way. Personal confirmation - found desperately. Finding time between jobs to grieve or think at least. Having to carry on cause no one knows her.

Death makes ppl say or do grand gestures. But those of us who are used to it just want it to be a moment of honestly to remember our people as they were.

Olivia didn’t want a service her dad says, just a get together at mortimers - one of our famous local #Minneapolis bars.

I think about all the conversations we had & didn’t have and how I wronged her as a friend and how she wronged me and how we both internalized misogyny and how we also were really really close at many times.

She was another brilliant young woman with thick skin & wicked humor.

I think about how she helped me pay for my first #abortion when I was 18, without question she handed over $300 of her earned money.

How she was always extremely beautiful, and loved a dear friend of mine deeply. #genghismuscox

I am only 35. I am not an age where ppl are supposed to die around you all the time. I have felt this old/young tension since I was young; ppl keep dying. Something about continuing to lose ppl in #minneapolis is real hard today.

I am sorry for all the conversations we didn’t have Olivia. I’m sorry I didn’t apologize more, like intentionally. I am sorry for wronging you in typical ww ways, I am sorry we lost connection, I respect & admire you. I hope peace and rest for you and your family. ❤️❤️❤️ #bye
