🇺🇸⚡️According to official data from the Congressional Research Service (CRS), a government institution of the United States, the American army has launched 469 foreign interventions since 1798. 1/6 #usa#ukraine#ukrainewar#usawarmongers#imperialism#unitedstates
This includes 218 interventions between 1798 and 1990, and 251 interventions between 1991 and 2022. The data shows that since the end of the Cold War in 1991, the number of American military interventions abroad has significantly increased.
2/6
The report does not include secret actions or the numerous events in which US forces have been stationed abroad since WWII. It also excludes the deployment of American military forces against indigenous peoples as part of the violent process of colonial expansion westward.

Additionally, the Military Intervention Project at Tufts University's Center for Strategic Studies has documented over 500 American international military interventions since 1776, with nearly 60% taking place between 1950 and 2017 and more than a third after 1999.

The project adds that with the end of the Cold War era, one would expect the US to decrease its military interventions abroad, assuming that the threats & interests at stake were less important.
5/6
But these patterns reveal the opposite - the US has increased its military involvement abroad.

🇩🇪🇷🇺⚡️ Providing weapons & financial aid to Ukraine, makes Scholz's statement that Germany is not participating in the war technically (i.e. legally) correct but de facto completely consistent. Is hiding behind legal fictions a long-term solution? 1/9 #ukrainewar#ukraine#scholz
Russia has generally better weapons than Ukraine and is fighting an existential #war. Providing increasingly lethal #weapons to Ukraine would not be consistent with Scholz's stated goal of not escalating the situation.
2/9
It should be seen as a futile effort to change the military balance in favor of Ukraine and could ultimately lead to a more violent and destructive conflict with #Russia.
