The bombs started falling one year ago today, but almost the whole world has united to defend the country against the tyranny from #Russia.
Day 366 of the war
Loads of cities and famous places "lit-up" in support of #Ukraine last night, one year on from the first troops, tanks, planes and bombs from #Russia hitting the country.

At an event in #London, the remarkable Dame Helen Mirren was close to tears as she recited a poem and gave her support for #Ukraine.

Looks like saboteurs in #Crimea have struck again.
An important railway was blown up 12km from #Simferopol. There are no further details, but #Ukraine's Resistance is surely responsible.
It's highly likely military transport was affected, as well as passenger traffic.
The first Leopard tank could be in #Ukraine today.
#Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki arrived in Kyiv for the anniversary. Here outside St.Michael's (Mikhailivska) cathedral he met with his #Ukraine counterpart Denys Shmyhal. Later today he'll announce Leopards' arrival
A ceremony to mark the anniversary of #Russia's invasion and to celebrate #Ukraine's heroic resistance, was held on Mikhailivska (St Michael's) Square in #Kyiv this morning.
Due to shelling of #Kherson, many in the region have no power. Engineers say it will take at least another two days to fix. The temperature is currently 4c.
Meanwhile #Russia hits another hospital; oncology + materniry departments are damaged.
120 doctors & patients were there.
As #Wagner troops continue their attempt to encircle #Bakhmut the mercenary group claims to have taken total control of another village.
#Berkhivka (RU: #Berkhovka) is just north-west of the outskirts of Bakhmut. It's at higher elevation which suggests defensive problems for🇺🇦
Earlier today #NewZealand also imposed additinal sanctions on #Russia to mark the anniversary of the illegal invasion.
87 individuals are targeted including "political actors who have strategic relevance to Russia, and proximity to Putin."
A schoolboy has been arrested in #Russia with officials say he was on his way to set fire to the local military enlistment office
The 9th grade student was allegedly found with a lighter and a Molotov cocktail when stopped in #Tobolsk in #Tyumen region, independent media report.
Last week CNN revealed new video of the moment US medic Pete Reed wsa killed in #Ukraine.
Some Russian trolls argued it was a provocation, a car bomb, not #Russia's missiles.
Now a new video actually captures a second missile in flight moments later.

The death of another American soldier has been confirmed in #Ukraine.
28-year-old Afghanistan veteran Andrew Peters from #Wisconsin died 10 days ago while helping Ukraine defend its territory. Andrew was part of the International Defence Legion.

Each day #Ukraine releases figures for the numbers of Russian soldiers killed and equipment destroyed.
Invariably it's lower at weekends. So today's numbers (covering Saturday's losses) are lower across the board. I'm wondering if a couple of units don't report at weekends?

Another large number of tanks destroyed by #Ukraine's army in the last 24 hours*
Also, another helicopter downed and 650 further invaders killed. Although this is down a little on some recent days the total figure will reach 150,000 on Tues or Weds.

It loooked like a big counter attack with long range rockets by #Ukraine on targets in the occupied territories.

By the way, no official (or even unofficial) news yet on damage caused to Russia and its troops in the attacks yesterday evening. Even in #Mariupol where 11 missiles were thought to be fired on the southern port.
Over 30 countries have now signed a demand for the IOC to reconsider admitting athletes from #Russia and #Belarus to the Olympic Games.
The UK, US and most of #Ukraine's allies are among the signatories.
Another 760 Russians died on the battlefield in the last 24 hours according to #Ukraine's daily figures. The daily mean for February remains insanely high.
