1. German ISIS convert Christian Lappe from Dortmund was killed in Syria. He volunteered for a suicide attack in Germany. 
2. One year ago, Lappe told his story in an ISIS video. After a life-threatening disease, he converted to Islam.
3. In the vid, Lappe tells of his Hijra into the caliphate. He is filmed during amputations and floggings, likely as a member of Hisbah.
4. What's not told in the video of course: Lappe probably tried to escape with his wife shortly after arriving in Syria in August 2015.
5. Lappe met his wife Yasmina E. in Dortmund where she was living in some kind of youth shelter project.
6. After their Hijra they lived in different towns in Northern Syria where they both were not too popular among other German Jihadis.
7. Lappe was particularly eager to show his piety. He rebuked a German Jihadi (who wasn't a convert) for not showing up for Fajr prayer.
8. The other German Jihadi didn't care too much. A German ISIS member who knew Lappe there told me: "We all thought he was a loser."
9. In late 2015, Lappe and his wife volunteered for a suicide mission in Germany, the German ISIS member told me.
10. The Jihadi couple was brought to a small village near Akhtarin where they met a French amir of ISIS external operations division.
11. During the meeting they didn't suggest a proper plan. ISIS ExOps then rejected their proposal, likely suspecting they planned to escape.
12. "We all suspected that they just wanted to get back", German ISIS member told me. "You don't approach ExOps without a proper plan."
13. Lappe and his wife then moved to Iraqi town of Rutbah. Before ISF and Hashd conquered the city in May 2016, they moved to Albu Kamal.
14. Lappe posed for the vid and used the kunya Abu Issa. However, as I said back then, he used another name before.
15. ISIS Jihadi told me that Lappe's previous kunya was Abu Abdurrahman and his Islamic name Issa, which makes his new kunya a bit strange.
16. In his big video, Lappe also posed with an AK and called for attacks in Germany and other countries.
17. In early August, Lappe was eventually killed fighting NDF/SAA/Hezbollah, who published footage of his corpse.
