I'm not sure what principle you mean actually. It only really relates to the original issue in as much as, if you take me at my word, [1/2]
I'm against killing as a response to speech, which should translate fairly easily to me not being good with senseless murder. [2/2]
Let me say this, and bear with me because it might go across a few tweets.
Alright, this is a manthreading nightmare, so brace yourself.
If you think about your politics, the opinions and positions you hold and advocate for, do you think yours are uncommon or extreme? [1/15]
I suspect not, and I doubt many other people would. I'm not suggesting you throw a stone into Twitter and you'd hit another person [2/15]
just like you, but I'd wager it's not hard to find people you can agree with on almost anything. [3/15]
My point is, there's no shortage of people saying racism is bad, or that driving cars into crowds is hugely shitty. [4/15]
One more person saying that adds nothing, aside from hopefully being a given for most people. [5/15]
How many people on the other hand, are advocating for a position that gets them called a Nazi sympathiser (at best) all day long? [6/15]
You may not agree with the position, but you'd probably have to concede it's a much smaller catchment area. [7/15]
My point is, there are lots of fields to be ploughed, and they're not always the biggest or on the nicest bit of the farm. [8/15]
I could say what everyone else says, or I could hope people wouldn't assume I agreed with atrocity X if I didn't explicitly say so. [9/15]
I never really expected to use Twitter at all, and as much as I do, it's for things that interest me. [10/15]
If I don't talk about something too much, it doesn't mean I'm heartless, it means I think it's probably already well covered. [11/15]
I could never hope to fix irrational hatred or party politics, but maybe I can help move the needle slightly on free speech. [12/15]
Or maybe I can't. But it interests me, and I (mostly) enjoy that world. [13/15]
I think there's a point buried somewhere in this overly-tired ramble, but you'll have to pick it out yourself. [14/15]
I should probably go to bed because I now no longer know how long I've been awake and I'm alarmed I don't feel worse. [15/15]
