Friends: I do not do this in a light or cavalier way. But I feel like I can’t get away from this—I’m going to need some prayer & some help.
I feel led to organize a time of praise & peaceful protest at one of the most hostile environments for the gospel in the US: @LibertyU.
I think it’s an important site strategically: ground zero for the counterfeit faith that is sweeping many evangelical churches right now.
I am looking to organize peaceful action @LibertyU within the next few weeks. I’m calling on other Christian artists & speakers to join me.
I am calling on students, alumni, pastors, church leaders, & people who simply love Jesus & love prayer to join me.
I am still discerning what it should look like, but here is what I can tell you: this action @LibertyU will be saturated in prayer.
It will be humble, joyful, respectful, but strong & clear, & there will be zero hatred on display toward anyone. No one will be mocked.
It will be constructive, not destructive. Our goal will be nothing less than a mighty move of God’s Spirit @LibertyU.
We will stand against the idolatry of nationalism & the politics of demonization in the name of Jesus Christ, & stand for the oppressed.
Our goal will not be to antagonize, but see renewal & transformation, to see light pierce darkness. Our prayer will be to #liberateliberty.
A time of fasting & prayer will proceed this. We will need a few churches in the Lynchburg area to host meetings week of...
Where we can hold space to pray, sing, celebrate the Lord’s supper, & the sacrament of footwashing. Can you help us?
I’m going to need some local pastors & church leaders who are willing to help host us. And some host homes for guests.
We’re going to need some leaders with influence to bravely spend some of that currency, even though it’s costly. God will provide for you.
For right now, I’m asking mostly for your prayers. More info/concrete ways you can help will be coming soon. Thank you in advance!
I can’t say this strongly enough: we love @LibertyU & it’s leaders, & it is in a spirit of love & peace we will come.
But we will come in the name of Jesus, & in the power of the Spirit. Jesus is our liberating King, & he’s mighty enough to #liberateliberty!
We aren’t mad at anybody but the devil :) But make no mistake-we aren’t coming to play. Taking on principalities is serious business!
Whether you’re left or right, democrat or republican-we don’t care. The stakes here transcend partisan politics. This is about the kingdom!
