I understand the indignant sentiment to the flyer based on the people who are supposedly posting these things, but technically speaking there isn't anything inherently wrong with the statement as it is written.
Rather, if your problems are with the supposed implications of the statement, and the supposed actions and beliefs of the group of people behind the statement, then perhaps you might empathize with those who distrust "Black Lives Matter" despite how true that statement also is.
This flyer, which represents an increasingly prevalent sentiment on the far right, is why you must be against ALL identity politics if you want to fight against white supremacy. Engaging in left wing identity politics only serves to fuel right wing identity politics.
In the same way that many feel it necessary to proclaim that "black lives matter" because it seems that the world does not agree, so too may the people posting these flyers feel it necessary to to proclaim that "it's okay to be white."
They feel it necessary to to proclaim that "it's okay to be white" because of increasingly prevalent rhetoric from the social justice left, which continues to relentlessly demonize the "whiteness" with which it has forced them to identify.
The only way to win here is to reduce identity politics. The reason why "it's okay to be white" is offensive is that it represents a white race consciousness, which is dangerous and counterproductive like any other identity-consciousness-as-politics. In effect: identity politics.
The contemporary existence of white-race-consciousness-as-politics only happened because it was awakened by accelerating progressive identity politics rhetoric.
Identity politics, in its current form, has turned into nothing more than a nuclear proliferation arms race, one that threatens to destroy much more than the tenuous situation is supposedly protecting.
I know that it's /pol/, and that they're doing it to paint the left with anti-white sentiment. But the reaction to these flyers, which has made national news, has been to imply or directly state that the message as written, "it's okay to be white," is considered unacceptable.
It requires a higher level of analysis to explain your disagreement, yet /pol/ is well aware of the fact that the domain of this battle is the media and the greater culture war, not individual campuses. They're not just expecting the media to mess it up, they're counting on it.
Consider the fact that the progressive left is in such a state right now that a troll simply has to state that "it's okay to be white," and the progressive left will energetically broadcast anti-white sentiment for the world to see as if it doesn't care. Because it doesn't care.
I know what /pol/ is doing, but consider the fact that the REAL propaganda is the national broadcast of the indignant reaction to the statement, not the statement itself. If you want to stop the propaganda, stop the left from implying to laypeople that it isn't okay to be white.
By reacting indignantly to the statement, the left isn't countering their message. It's proving them right. It's proving that simply stating that "it's fine to be who you are" is considered "Nazi propaganda." It's demonstrating that the left thinks it's NOT okay to be white.
This has demonstrated, as they have continued to demonstrate, that /pol/ is engaged in expert level meme warfare. The progressive left is ill equipped to fight on this battlefield because it's emotional and predictable. It's being played like a fiddle, and it's letting it happen.
All of that taken into consideration, maybe /pol/ isn't "painting the progressive left with anti-white sentiment," but rather "exposing the anti-white sentiment inherent to the progressive left." I'm finding that I agree more with the latter than the former.
If you are part of the progressive left and don't think that the progressive left is anti-white, then prove /pol/ wrong. If you are part of the progressive left and are unapologetic about your anti-white sentiment, then you can only blame yourself for what /pol/ is doing.
