There was some suspicion that it'd happen, but Dr. Ronny Jackson is releasing detailed medical information about Trump - comparable to, or possibly even more than, he released when he examined Obama.
Jackson said Trump scored 30/30 on a Montreal Cognitive Exam.
"In summary, the president's overall health is excellent," Jackson says, but "he would benefit from a diet that is lower in fat and carbohydrates" and included regular exercise.
Jackson says he didn't plan to do a Montreal Cognitive Assessment on Trump, because he spends every day with Trump and "I had absolutely no concerns about his cognitive ability," but did one because Trump asked him to do it.
Jackson says he thinks Trump slurred his words once recently because he'd given Trump too much Sudafed that day; they did an ultrasound, nothing wrong.
Jackson says "there's no indication whatsoever" that Trump has any cognitive issues such as dementia or Alzheimer's or "any issue whatsoever with his thought process."
Jackson is indisputably a real doctor. He was Obama's doctor also.
Jackson says Trump is fit for duty - and then, straying into prediction, says he thinks Trump will remain fit for duty throughout his term and even a second term.
Is it common for doctors to predict that 71-year-olds will be healthy when they're 78?
Jackson says Trump doesn't have a daily exercise regimen. "We can build on that pretty easily," he says to laughter.
Jackson says Trump often has more stamina and energy than the people around him. Asked how a guy who eats McDonald's and such can be this way, Jackson says, "He has incredible genes, I just assume."
Jackson says he didn't look for bone spurs (which Trump cited in avoiding Vietnam service), since "none of that stuff's been bothering him recently" and they were "crunched for time."
Jackson says Trump is eating much better in the White House than he used to. Asked if he's now limited to one scoop of ice cream, Jackson says, "I don't limit his diet."
Jackson acknowledges that Trump's given weight, 239 pounds, is one pound from a classification as obese. Says Trump knows he should lose weight.
Jackson says he'd guess that Trump sleeps 4-5 hours a night. "That's probably one of the reasons he's been successful," he says.
Asked if Trump is a germaphobe, Jackson says he'll continue to encourage Trump to be "a bit of a germaphobe" and wash his hands frequently, since he shakes lots of hands: "He'd be a fool not to."
Imagine if Trump gave a press conference this long!
Jackson says this isn't a medical assessment, just his personal assessment: "He has a very unique ability to just get up in the morning and reset," forget the last day's stres and "push the reset button." That seems...questionable?
