Trump said "a number of Democrats" came out this morning and endorsed border security that includes a wall, but the media won't report it because it is "the opposition party." Not personally sure if he is referring to a real thing.
Trump's fuller quote on Mexico paying: "Obviously I never said this, and I never meant, they're going to write out a check. I said they're going to pay for it. They are. They are paying for it with the incredible deal we made with the...USMCA deal. It's a trade deal." 1/2
Trump on Mexico paying for the wall, continued: "And when I said Mexico will pay for the wall, in front of thousands and thousands of people, obviously they're not going to write a check. They are paying for the wall indirectly." (He brought this up unprompted, wasn't asked.)
Trump says he finds China "far more honourable than Crying Chuck and Nancy."
Trump says he'd rather make a deal, but probably will end up declaring a national emergency: "Probably I will do it. I would almost say definitely." He adds: "If we don't make a deal, I would say it would be very surprising to me that I would not declare a national emergency."
What makes this quote so Trumpian: it makes him sound worse here to remind people that he made the "Mexico will pay" promise in front of giant groups of people, but he felt the need to remind us how giant the groups of people were.
Trump: "I don't have temper tantrums. I really don't."
Trump tries to work the WaPo fact-checkers on Schumer's claim that he slammed the table at their meeting: "What you should do is give them Pinocchios."
Obviously, Trump was literal about Mexico supposedly paying for the wall. He did indeed say Mexico would do something like "write a check."
Trump says the Democrats have "been taken over by a group of young people." He says that in some cases he believes these young people are "crazy."
Trump: "Compromise is in my vocabulary, very strongly."
