Hey guys! Just listened to an older ep of @breaknutrition podcast. THANK YOU for addressing how overly simplistic and flawed the CICO paradigm is, and that human metabolism and cellular energy utilization is about much more than deliberate exercise. 1/
/ I would love to hear your thoughts on how hypothyroidism affects brown adipose tissue, uncoupling, etc. As someone who's dealt with hypothyroidism, I was freezing cold to the point of distraction from anything else in a room where everyone else was fine.
/ It seems like if your thyroid isn't churning out hormone, or if T4 isn't being converted to T3 properly in target tissues, then your body isn't *able* to warm itself in response to a cold environment, otherwise you *would* get warm and not feel cold most of the time.
/ Seems like hypothyroidism just wrecks normal metabolic processes and adaptations that would otherwise take place in a healthy/well-regulate body. I don't know that cold exposure is going to help the metabolic rate, UCP activity, or browning of WAT in someone with this issue.
/ Just curious what you think. I feel like what you talked about in the show applies to a body "all things being equal," or, rather, when the hormones and signaling processes are working to factory specification, rather than when something else is prohibiting "normal" adaptation
