I'm amazed at the number of people who've never been in a situation like this who tweet about how everyone else should be a hero
There's a reason combat vets are up in arms over this: They've seen people they love, trust and respect freeze at the moment of truth. Or crack under the pressure. People who have fought know how difficult these fights are. So get outta here with this "he shoulda done" whatever.
Combatants have also seen the opposite: The dirtbag soldier who you *knew* would dodge or cower does something jaw-droppingly heroic.

Point is, no one--no matter how well-trained--knows how he or she will react when the bullets start flying.
